Dr. Webb attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, earning his Medical degree in 1996. He later pursued a surgical internship at the University of Florida. After completing his internship, he returned to Augusta to complete a general surgery residency at the Medical College of Georgia. After completion, he returned to Athens, and joined the Athens Surgical Group in July 2002 with Dr. Tom H. Hawk. The two sold their practice to Athens Regional Medical Center, now known as Piedmont Athens Regional. Dr. Ashlee Kimbrell joined the practice in September 2016, and Dr. Hawk retired (November 2016) after practicing 40 years of General Surgery in Athens.
With the changes to medical practices and the hospital hiring additional surgeons for trauma and emergency surgeries, Dr. Webb was fortunate to put more of an emphasis and focus primarily on his elective surgery practice. Dr. Webb has always had a passion for general surgery and took an interest in hernia repair. In the last few years, hernia repair has changed with incredible new techniques and innovative technology. He has offered the community complex hernia repair with new techniques that used to be primarily done in Atlanta. Dr. Webb is also the areas only surgeon offering Robotic assisted hernia repairs. He still has a busy general surgery practice offering almost all types of surgery, but specializes in hernia repair which is now about 50 percent of his practice. Hence, why the name was changed from Athens Surgical Group to Athens Hernia Clinic. Dr. Webb is Board-certified, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In addition, he is a member of the Americas Hernia Society, Georgia Surgical Society, American College of Surgeons, Abdominal Core Health Quality Collaborative, and several other national groups. He has advanced special training in robotic surgery. He formally served as the Chief of General Surgery at Piedmont Athens Regional. Dr. Webb has completed over 1,000 robotic hernias and is a frequent speaker at national hernia meetings.
Dr. Webb is married to Kery Webb and has three children. He has always relished the opportunity to come back home, and practice medicine. He enjoys caring for his patients, and offers them years of experience and surgical expertise. He also takes great pride in making certain that every individual is provided the absolute best medical care available.
